Other type of saws

Besides handsaws, Peace also made keyhole saws, pad saws, meat saws, etc. Here are a few examples:

This is an interesting Harvey W. Peace table saw my friend Joe Federici found. It's 18in long with a nib and Buell's patent handle. The handle has a clear patent date. The blade is clearly etched "P 70". The brass saw screws are nickel-plated. It's the only example of this saw I've seen or heard of. It is not listed in any of the catalogs.

Peace produced an adjustable combination saw based on Curtis martin's Jun. 14, 1881 patent. It is believed that Marvin made some of these saws on his own in Stamford, CT. At some point Peace must have licensed the design and begain producing them on this own. There are few surviving examples found today.

Jim Stebbins recently found a crisp example of a Marvin gage saw with a clear Harvey Peace mark. He was kind enough to provide me with some excellent photos.

Here's an example of a William McNiece patented pad saw, produced by Harvey Peace. The cast iron body is clearly marked with the June 24, 1879 patent date, and the blade is etched "HARVEY PEACE". The blade is retractable and held in place with a turn screw.
