The square is in good condition with some discoloration and light patches of pitting. It's still square. The stock, which appears to be burly walnut, is in very good condition with only light wear. This 12-in bevel was made by Star Tool in Middletown, CT. The design was patented nov 5, 1867 by L.D. Howard. The rosewood stock is excellent and clearly marked. The blade's heavily discolored. It works perfectly. $28

This gauge was made by J. Stevens in Chicopee Falls, MA, MA. It's unmarked, but the design is clearly Fay's Sept 23, 1884 patent. The design allows for a secondary rod with a threaded top and knurled screw which can be used to micro-adjust the height of the gauge. I've never seen one before, and found no records of any selling at any time in the recent past. I think it's an awesome design, and a nice example. $125

I've seen hundreds of Stanley nos. 1,2,3, and 4 trammels, but never a no. 5 until this one. They are a matched pair with matching owner's initials. They were made in the "type 11" 1910-1918 era. The catalog says they are designed to attach to a carpenter's rule of any size. They were sold with four points, only two of which remain, one large and one small. They are clean and free of damage. $45
