This is an excellent example with only some light discoloration. The knob and tote are perfect. The japanning is near 100%. It has a good blade, not original length, but super-clean and with a lot of life left. This example dates to around 1912-1918. An excellent working example. $125

This is an excellent working no. 8. It's a gorgeous plane, all original and uncleaned. All I had to do was wipe the dust off. It has just a little honest discoloration on the sides. The knob and tote are both excellent. The blade is near original length and especially clean. It was well cared for and still sharp. I gave it a test run and it works well. It will be a fantastic worker. $225

This is a true "type 11" with three patent dates, small adjuster, low knob, and the original "v" logo blade. It's been used lightly. The sides have some light patina. The japanning is 100% or close to. The knob and tote are perfect. The frog adjusters are excellent. The blade has plenty of life left. It's lapped clean and flat at the working area. Farther back there's some light pitting which will work itself out as the blade is sharpened. It's a great example to put to use. $145

This is the Sargent version of the Stanley 4 1/2 size bench plane. It's an excellent example, all complete and original with no wear or damage. The blade is factory-new length. It has no pitting at all, just some minor discoloration which looks a lot worse in the photo than it does in person. The knob and tote are perfect with just a bit of varnish cracking to apologize for. The japanning is 100%. The adjusters are perfect. It's every bit the same quality as a Stanley from the same era. Stanley's Liberty Bell line of planes was positioned as more affordable than Bailey pattern planes but offered more adjustability than a traditional wooden plane. In reality the adjusters don't work well. It lacks a lateral and is far too coarse for any sort of fine work. However- these planes are usable if you treat them like a wooden plane. Use a hammer to adjust the blade and they make solid workers. this one has some wear but is still usable. These will never be popular among users, but they do work $15

This plane is in near-mint condition with no damage or wear. it's fitted with a 1/4in blade which will also work in Veritas and Stanley router planes. It retails for $169 new. $125
